Two former residents of the children’s home have passed their final exams as a chef and a care assistant with flying colours!

From the age of five, Pasang Sherpa spent 15 years at the Shaligram Bal Griha children’s home run by Nepalhilfe Beilngries, near Kathmandu. After leaving school, he studied hotel management with financial support from NHB and completed his studies with a bachelor’s degree.

He has been in Beilngries since 2023 and is training as a chef at the 4-star hotel “Die Gams”. He successfully completed this training course in July 2026 with excellent marks, much to the delight of his boss, Birgit Liebscher. Ever since the apprenticeship began, she has been full of praise for her ‘apprentice’ and hopes that he will continue to work in the hotel kitchen for a long time to come, now as a fully qualified professional.

Fulee Sherpa also spent 14 years at our children’s home in Kathmandu before going on to train as a nurse, initially in Kathmandu. In the summer of 2025, with the help of Nepalhilfe, she came to Beilngries to train as a care assistant at the local care home. She passed this exam with excellent marks and will now undertake a further two-year training course to become a fully qualified nurse and care worker for the elderly.

Nepalhilfe Beilngries is incredibly proud of both of them and would like to offer its warmest congratulations to ‘its children’ on their fantastic dedication and on successfully completing their vocational training!
