Selang Healthpost – Sindhupalchok
12 kilometres north of the district capital of Chautara lies the small village of Selang, which serves as a base for several nearby villages. In this capacity, a request was already made in 2022 for the construction of a new health post, as the current one was severely damaged in the 2015 earthquake. The nearest doctor is in Chautara, just under 2 hours’ drive or 4 hours’ walk away.
As basic medical care in rural areas is one of our pillars of support, we were able to fulfil this wish in 2024.
Construction work on the new health centre with its 8 rooms has been underway since mid-2024 so that it can go into operation in 2025.
6 trained first aiders, paramedics and nurses will then treat minor wounds, dispense medication, perform births and also hold discussions about family planning. In acute cases, the helpers arrange transport to the hospital in Chautara.
On 26.04.25 Michi and Michaela Rebele officially handed over the Healthpost. The much-needed Healthpost was inaugurated by the population with dances and speeches.
