Madhyabindu District Hospital – Kawasoti/Terai inaugurated
The first plans for the 100-bed hospital in Kawasoti in southern Nepal have been in the works since 2016. Construction began in 2017, but then came the COVID-19 crisis in 2020 and construction came to a halt. As a result of this and political restructuring, construction was delayed until 2022.
In 2023, a contract was signed with the district government of Gandaki, according to which NHB would contribute a total of 1 million euros to the construction. NHB is responsible for completing the ground floor and first floor.
In spring and autumn 2023, Manfred Lindner and other members of the board were able to see for themselves the progress of the construction work.
Both the Nepalhilfe Beilngries and the government are currently working hard to complete the new clinic by the end of 2025. The then Minister of Health of the Gandaki province promised that the necessary financial resources would be provided in the summer of 2024.
Work progressed even during the monsoon season, so that the roof could be put in place on 24 July. The interior work also progressed at the same time. At the end of September 2024, a delegation from the NHB visited the construction site and was informed about the progress.
On 12 March 2025, after more than seven years of construction, the time had finally come. A large delegation with board member Manfred Lindner was able to commission two floors, which were financed by the NHB. The Madhyabindu District Hospital was officially opened in the presence of numerous high-ranking ministers and local dignitaries. A great day for the entire Navalpur region, with a population of more than 400,000, which will now have access to a qualified medical facility.
