health sector

In addition to the school sector, NHB has also been active in the health sector for many years. In addition to financing family planning programmes, holding health camps and purchasing ambulances, the 100-bed hospital in Navalparasi in the Terrai region of southern Nepal will be completed by 2025. NHB is providing a total of 1 million euros for this project. The construction is being carried out together with the Gandaki regional government, which is investing a further 1.2 million euros. For many years, support for the Siddhi Memorial Children’s and Women’s Hospital in Bhaktapur has been another important building block in this sector.

For some time now, however, the construction of health centres in the remote mountain regions of Sindhupalchok has become an important task for NHB. In the next few years, additional health posts will be established in these areas to provide the rural population with a minimum level of medical care and to spare the sick the long, arduous journey to the nearest doctor or hospital in this mountainous region. Simple illnesses, injuries or vaccinations can now be treated locally by trained paramedics.
