Chharka / Dolpo solarhouse

As early as March 2020, Tsering Samdup of Dolpo Tomorrow Project sent a call for help to Nepalhilfe Beilngries with a request to build a passive solar house in his village of Chharka in Dolpo. This should serve as a school, as at an altitude of 4300 m, temperatures only allowed for school to be held for 7 months of the year.

The aim was to provide 60 school and preschool children aged 5 to 13 with better conditions so that they could finally attend school all year round.

After three years of construction work, the passive solar house was finally completed under extremely difficult conditions. Now, 10 months of teaching can take place, which will significantly improve the educational opportunities of the children of Chharka. The project will be completed in 2025 with the paving of the schoolyard and the provision of beds.
