The third NHB school is dedicated to the legendary mountaineer Peter Habler, who also immediately put himself at the service of NHB and collected donations for our projects. It was opened in 2001. The small primary school with 80 young pupils is about an hour’s walk from the large school in Kadambas and has four rooms. It was completely renovated in 2018.
The very impressive Ryale School was built in just under 18 months in 2013, about 2 hours south of Kathmandu, and can accommodate more than 300 students.
After almost two years of construction, the school in Tanjakot in Humla, in the far west of Nepal, was officially opened on 1 April 2024. 360 schoolchildren now have a new school in one of the most remote areas of Nepal.
Since the completion of the passive solar house in September 2023, the five-month school closures in the winter from November to March due to low temperatures of up to -25 degrees will be a thing of the past. Pupils will now be able to attend school for 10 months.
