The Lhubu Disabled Day Care Centre, a day care centre for people with intellectual disabilities, is located just a few hundred metres from the Shaligram Bal Griha children’s home. In 2019, the parents’ forum approached NHB with a request to inspect the accommodation of the people cared for there. However, what we saw did not in any way correspond to adequate care facilities for these people. After submitting the application for the construction of a new building for a day care centre, this project was tackled in Up to 35 people with mental and physical disabilities are cared for there. The SR is responsible for paying three specialist staff and for the meals of all those accommodated there during the day. A disabled bus was rented in 2023 to enable more people with disabilities to access this care centre. The SR plans to purchase an electric bus
