In March 2022, our project coordinator Shyam Pandit set out for the remote western region of Nepal, to Humla. From there, we received a request to build a primary school in the municipality of Tanjakot. This is a major challenge, 450 km west and five days’ journey from Kathmandu. But we took on this challenge and work began in the summer of 2022. The first wing was completed by December of the same year, and the next step, the construction of another wing, began in early 2023 for the 360 students and their 13 teachers. Just over a year later, on 1 April 2024, the school was officially inaugurated in the presence of local political dignitaries and more than 1000 guests. The video gives a good impression of this. In 2024, the work will be completed with the paving of the schoolyard.
